Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Certified Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of both inpatient and outpatient care and demonstrate proficiency in patient service. This role is essential in providing high-quality support to our medical staff while ensuring a positive experience for our patients.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures, ensuring smooth workflow in inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Conduct patient intake, including taking vital signs, medical history, and documenting relevant information in electronic health records.
- Administer medications and injections as directed by the physician, adhering to safety protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and medical equipment, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to coordinate patient care, including calling back patients with results, ordering labs, scheduling testing, and prior authorizations if needed for testing.
- Handle referrals for patients and send documentation needed for upcoming referral appointments.
- Provide education to patients regarding their treatment plans, medications, and necessary lifestyle changes.
- Uphold confidentiality standards in accordance with HIPAA regulations while managing patient information.
Requirements:
- Certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program is required.
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
- Experience in patient referrals, patient scheduling/testing, prior authorizations, and ordering labs electronically.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems is advantageous.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team while maintaining professionalism at all times.
- A commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on best practices in medical assisting.
